形态描述：鳞茎直径1-2厘米；鳞茎皮黑褐色，薄革质，内面上部和基部有伏毛。茎上部通常有密柔毛或疏毛，极少无毛。叶3-4枚，条形或条状披针形，通常宽0.5-1.5厘米，彼此疏离或紧靠而似轮生，伸展或反曲，边缘平展或呈波状。花常单朵顶生，黄色；花被片长25-35毫米，宽4-20毫米；外花被片背面有绿紫红色、紫绿色或黄绿色色彩，内花被片黄色；当花凋谢时，颜色通常变深，甚至外三片变成暗红色，内三片变成淡红或淡红黄色；6枚雄蕊等长，花丝无毛，中部稍扩大，向两端逐渐变窄；几无花柱。蒴果卵圆形，种子扁平，近三角形。花期3-5月，果期5月。
